So, as most of you know, at the ripe age of 27, I got my drivers license. I can also assure you that hours of practice in Grand Theft Auto did not help me. First of all, the controller is way different.
Prior to leaving for the exam, there was some debate over how I was to get back to the office. Since it’s the DMV, it could be an hour or two while I wait to be processed to actually get my license and Brett, the instructor, wouldn’t be able to wait around. Work didn’t mind bussing it back to the office, with the problem that I didn’t know what bus to take, or where the DMV was, other than Mount Pearl. Which is akin to saying it’s somewhere out there, slightly to the left.
Now I did have some paper work with a website for the DMV. Progress. Except the website doesn’t exist. But I did find a street address online, which took me to a street corner. Not the DMV. But wait, John’s from Mount Pearl, his wife is taking the same course as me, maybe he knows where the DMV is.
No.
So what do we do? We open up Google Maps, turn on the satellite imagery and start browsing through Mount Pearl espionage-style looking for the driving compound.
Turns out, it’s here. (opens in a new window).
All in all, it was a pretty fun exercise, even if Brett did give me a drive in the end.
