snow fun

April 6th, 2008

After shooting the tour on Saturday I went on a plant-saving trip to Stavanger Drive. I got the original plant from the Kent store out there, so it made sense to get the pot and soil for Jr. from the same store. On the way I took a few snow-related snaps.

For starters, winter is hard on roads in St. John’s. Two of my co-workers have damaged both tire and rim from hitting a pot-holes. While one managed to get the rim repaired, the other needed a whole new rim. And had to wait several days because so many other people had the same problem.
As for this particular pot-hole, you don’t really want to know how deep this goes, but it does cover a lane and a half. Every car that I saw cross it slowed to a complete stop (some better than others) before sinking across it.

Just another shopping cart here. Though more mangled than the other one I usually shoot.

So a little while ago I mentioned walking in Stavanger and sinking to my hips at one particular point. I’m pretty sure that this is all that remains of that adventure. How do I know this?

Because as soon as I turned around it happened again! Though not nearly as deep. But still! Maybe I should get some snow shoes.

My only other anecdote happened while waiting for the bus. You know those gussied up cars with the thump-thump bass? Well I saw one. Which isn’t all that odd really, we’re not that back-water in St. John’s. But the thump-thump bass? It was Crash Test Dummies.

I’m not really sure what to make of that.
