As we all know, I’ve been known to do a few odd and slightly crazy things from time to time. Which surprises even me. Being someone that tends to shy away from putting myself out there, and self-conscious of my actions, you’d think these out-of-the-norm bits wouldn’t happen. But, well, they do.
A couple of weeks ago I was out with a friend and driving down a street in downtown St. John’s. We’d just come from Signal Hill and were on our way out to Cape Spear. Casually looking out the window I saw, much to my surprise a green holga! Now, those that know me, know of my love of the toy-camera holga and all that it can (and can’t) do. So I was pretty surprised to see one and pretty much turned around in my seat and went “Holga!?”
Thankfully, I wasn’t driving.
I’d also like to point out that I’ve reached a point in evolution where leaning out the window to yell “Hey! Holga girl” didn’t appear as a valid option. Thankfully.
Instead, I put a small classified ad in the Scope, which is a bi-weekly arts magazine in town. It was a bit of a long shot, but I figured why not? If I don’t try, I’ll always regret it.
Now, I’m sure most of you are wondering what happened. All I can say is, why else would I be putting you through this story if it didn’t? Hah!

you woulnd’t be putting us through this story if it didn’t what?
