progress!

Last Sunday John and I finally managed to find some time to work on the bookcase. It’s taken us since June. And while this almost became another one of those projects that fell off to the side that I mentioned before, it’s still alive and kicking. And if not kicking, at least swaying it’s foot back and forth in a kick-like motion.

As a result of Sunday, we discovered, after much nailing of odd-shaped pieces, that some of the more difficult components needed to be redone. Part of the problem is trying to cut 13 inch pieces accurately on a 12 inch table saw. It ended up being quite the contraption. So, out of five pieces, I took home three. Out of three pieces, I found time to sand and varnish two of them (the third needs to be braced or it may not survive the sanding process).

I’m not really sure what to put in the tall one yet. 46 inch books aren’t very common. Perhaps a tall plant would work.
